'Out the Back', coloured pencil and oil on plywood, 2014

Margaret McIntosh is an artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia.

Margaret’s work looks at the narrative of the everyday. Since her first solo exhibition ‘Other People’s Houses’ in 2010, where she investigated the spaces we occupy and symbolism in domesticity, she has moved into the fragility of the human condition.

In her second exhibition ‘Dog House’ (2013) Margaret explored our relationship with domestic pet within a contemporary setting. Working from photos, Margaret often removes the figure from the background in order to highlight a loneliness caused from an over saturated urban landscape.

Following this, Margaret's show 'Dear John' (2015) used humour to highlight the complexities in mainstream perceptions regarding the disproportions of vulnerability in the landscape of gender.
